Myla was always a really active and playful pup until she turned about 4. She started not wanting to run around and play as much. She also didn’t like to stretch out her strides (she loved leaping from each stepping stone on our path). We originally thought she may just be a bit tight in her hip muscles. She also became more sensitive in her two front paws to the cold and didn’t like us to go near them. On walks she always loved chasing roos, but afterwards her hips would be really sore and she wouldn’t let us pat or massage them.
During a vet visit she had an x-ray completed which showed she had arthritis in both her front paws and also hip dysplasia. We initially started Myla on medication to help manage the pain she was experiencing (she became moody and had no interest in playing). The medication seemed to be helping with some of the pain, but not all. We started to see an animal physiotherapist to see what rehab exercises we could do to help. Both of these helped, but Myla was still in a lot of pain, so we discussed with the vet about different options. One of them was Hydrotherapy.
Myla has been doing Hydrotherapy once a week to help get on top of things. This has made such a huge difference to Myla and her mood. She is a lot happier and wants to run and play again. She will even use the stepping stones again! She is now doing so well we have been able to space out her treatment to once every three weeks.
We knew hydrotherapy helped humans in their rehabilitation, but it was so surprising to see such a fast result with Myla. Andrea does such an amazing job for our beautiful girl and goes above and beyond to help us. We definitely recommend Fido Hydro to others. Thanks Andrea for all your amazing work and kindness!
